Olivia Cooke, Anya Taylor-Joy Star In New Thoroughbreds Clip

July 2024 · 1 minute read

The upcoming movie Thoroughbreds is a story of friendship. Amanda (Olivia Cooke) and Lily (Anya Taylor-Joy) come back into each other’s lives after a period of estrangement at a time when they both need a sympathetic ear. So they watch old movies together. Drink wine on the sly late at night. Have long talks, and start plotting the murder of Lily’s dictatorial stepdad — you know, just teen-girl stuff. The clip above teases how Amanda, who has become a “skilled imitator” of human feelings despite being entirely devoid of emotions herself, teaches Lily “the technique” for crying on command. It’s a useful trick, because these disaffected rich girls are going to need all the coached empathy they can manage for the kind of trouble they’re about to stir up. Thoroughbreds arrives in theaters on March 9.
