Pink Defends Herself As Demi Lovato Calls Her Out for VMAs Disses

August 2024 · 3 minute read

Pink is seeing red! The “Raise Your Glass” singer is defending herself after facing backlash for reportedly dissing some of the artists who performed at the 2015 MTV Video Music Awards last weekend. The star allegedly wrote on her private Instagram account that she was “let down” by the big event.

“I felt embarrassed and sad. And old. We’re getting old,” Pink, 35, reportedly wrote in the post. “But in all seriousness; I felt sad because music is supposed to inspire. It saved my life. This trash won’t save any kids life. In a world that is even scarier and with lives still worth saving, who will stand up and have soul? Disenfranchised to say the least.”

She reportedly continued: “Let down by my industry and peers. Beside Macklemore and pharell [Williams] and [Justin] bieber (pre sob fest) and the weekend, Tori Kelly was dope too. The rest was gross and embarrassing and hard for this aging pop star to believe.”

Pink noticeably left out other performers from the night, including host Miley Cyrus, Taylor Swift, Nicki Minaj, and Demi Lovato – who called the singer out for her comments on Twitter on Friday, Sept. 4.

Cool For The Summer may not “save kid’s lives” or “inspire” but I’d say Skyscraper & Warrior have done a pretty good job of helping people

cope with mental illness. VMA’s are sexy and fun. There’s a time and place for everything.

Prior to Lovato’s comments, however, Pink clarified that she had no problem with the former Disney star. “Please look for a feud elsewhere. I have no issue with Demi Lovato or anyone else. I actually forgot she performed. I have opinions. MANY,” Pink tweeted on Thursday, Sept. 3. “I stand by what I said. However, I didn’t intend for the angry people of the world to latch on and make it into something it isn’t. Peace.”

But there’s more. The “Who Knew” rocker continued to respond to the haters Friday morning. Check out the rest of her tweets below:

Anything about Demi Lovato or called out anyone. I was talking to a friend in response to his disappointment about the show. I agree w him.
