It is an undeniable fact that one cannot help but love Soul Eater characters. Not only are most of them powerful, but they are also pleasing to meet and yes, entertaining. The series ran from 2008 to 2009 as an Anime television series, although the Manga ran from 2004 to 2013.

The show has more than 30 characters divided into the Soul Eater, Soul Eater Not, Gorgon Sisters, and Witches among others. From all these, we have pulled out what we believe to be the best characters of the series.

Fascinating Soul Eater Characters

1. Death the Kid

Kid, as he is fondly called, is the son of Shinigami, who was created from a part of his being, but soon grows to develop a sense of self that is all his own. He is a very complex character who can get mad at one time and still be very lovable at another.

He has boundless powers which include the ability to make himself invisible, and his only weakness seems to be his inherited asymmetriphobia, an OCD which compels him to find order in everything to avoid losing his mind. He is destined to become the Grim Reaper.

2. Maka Albarn

Maka is one of the main characters in Soul Eater. She is Spirit’s daughter, although they do not get along well. She has a promising student whose one goal is to become a powerful meister with powers far greater than her father’s.

She is strong-willed, brave, mature for her age, qualities which make her the perfect person to be Soul’s weapon partner. Her character continues to develop personally and professionally throughout the series. She has numerous skills like soul perception, anti-magic wavelengths, as well as demon weapon characters.

3. Tsubaki Nakatsukasa

Tsubaki is a shadow weapon and Black Star’s weapon partner. She has the ability to turn into several kinds of weapons, but away from battle, she is a gentle, easy-going, and patient soul.

She hails from a strong line of powerful warriors who inherited the very first demon weapons. She goes on to attain incredible power – a weapon form called enchanted sword – after she swallows the soul of her brother.

4. Mifune

Mifune is called the God of Swords for a reason: despite being human he has masted to weapon to the point of being able to retain the upper hand even when matched against gods, spirits, and death scythes.

He works as a bodyguard for Angela the witch, as well as a fighter and bodyguard in Arachne’s mafia network. His soul power is equivalent to 99 ordinary human souls. Mifune is also Black Star’s sworn rival.

5. Asura

Asure is the demon god and the main antagonist in Soul Eater. He is one of the Great Old Ones, created out of the fragment of the soul of Shinigami which holds his fear. Because of this, he is one that is very strong and at the same time, often irrational.

He is capable of unleashing madness upon anyone that stands before him. He gains great power after swallowing his weapon Bahrain so he’d be able to consume souls and be transformed into a god. He wields terror wherever he goes and the others must overcome the impossible to defeat him.

6. Spirit Albarn

Spirit is a chronic womanizer, a death scythe presiding over the DMWA and North America, and he is Maka’s father. He serves as Stein’s weapon partner for a while before he is replaced by Marie. He is the most powerful death scythe in Soul Eater.

Despite his lecherous ways, he is constantly trying to regain his daughter’s respect. He also acts as a consort for the legendary Shinigami and is able to transform the powers of any meister he is welded with thanks to his awesome wavelength control.

7. Black Star

Black Star is Tsubaki’s meister, a powerful ninja assassin, and the last surviving member of the Star Clan. He was raised by Sid who took him under his wings in the DMWA after his entire clan was brutally murdered.

Black Star is one of the brightest and skilled students in the academy, which makes him arrogant to the point of promising to be more powerful than God someday, although some believe his path lies more towards evil and soul consumption like his father.

8. Marie Mjolnir

Marie is one of the most outstanding characters in Soul Eater. She is a death scythe who reigns over Oceania, as well as Franken Stein’s weapon partner. Her soul wavelengths have healing prop that can resist or quell the effects of madness techniques.

Despite her veritable abilities, Marie has no idea what she’s doing on most days, but one thing is for sure, anyone who crosses her would feel the full wrath of her anger and powers. She is not afraid to go above and beyond to get what she wants.

9. Liz and Patty Thompson

Elizabeth and Patricia Thompson are the weapon partners of the powerful meister, Death the Kid. The sisters are the complete opposite; where Liz is mature and cynical, resourceful, and terribly scared of ghosts or anything that creeps, Patty is annoyingly childish, trusting, cheery-eyed, and only goes into a rage during battle.

Their weapon forms are semi-automatic pistols that fire energy bullets which are technically Kid’s soul wavelengths. They can control each other whenever their meister is not present.

10. Soul Evans

Soul Evans, also known as Soul Eater, is a demon scythe and the chief protagonist in the series. He serves as Maka Albarn’s weapon partner. He is committed to coming off as cool, so he often embraces a carefree and nonchalant approach to situations.

He hails from a family of famous musicians and is an excellent pianist himself. However, Soul chooses to explore how far his weapon powers can take him rather than joining his family’s musical legacy. He has big dreams for himself, and he is willing to fight, devour, and kill whomever he needs to achieve them.
